Rules

Nominating

  1. Please read the list of winners from last year before you nominate, as NONE of those stories are eligible to be nominated again this year, and will be thrown out if we receive them.
  2. No slash, even if it's not the main pairing in the fic. Nothing against slash, this is just intended as a het fanfic award. However, if someone out there wanted to create a similar award for secondary slash pairings on SG-1, we would not object. :-)
  3. No non-con or incest, period, and no statutory pairings. For the purposes of this award, incest is defined as sexual contact between two people who are related by blood or legally. A "statutory pairing" is anything where an adult is paired with someone who is underage (since this is an international award, this includes anyone under the age of 18).
  4. No Sam/Jack or Sheppard/Weir, unless it's not the primary pairing in the fic. A Sam/Jack fic with Daniel/Janet on the side is not eligible, but a Daniel/Janet fic with mentions of S/J is.
  5. No stories where two characters are together only because they're both pining after someone else. If Daniel and Sam are sleeping together *only* because Daniel's mourning Sha're and Sam wants Jack but can't have him, that's not a Daniel/Sam romance no matter how much the focus may be on them.
  6. Any fic that demonizes or maliciously kills off a character--any character--to promote a rival pairing will not be accepted.
  7. A story can only be submitted to one primary category, and it should be the category of the main 'ship in the story; if the fic is Daniel/Vala with a side of Cam/Sam, it can *only* be nominated as Daniel/Vala. This is also the reason for rule #2--there *is* no primary category for Sam/Jack because that's more than covered by the Stargate SG-1 Fan Awards.
  8. A story can be nominated in up to three subcategories--this allows for stories that may fit into more than one genre while still keeping it so those stories don't dominate *all* the categories. :-)
  9. Please only nominate three stories per subcategory--we understand that it can be hard to choose, but we will have enough to do with this many categories without having to deal with a ton of nominations in one subcategory from the same person! :-)
  10. Nominated stories should be beta-read or at the very least readable; a few typos or grammatical slips are okay, but if it's so bad that the reader for that category can't get through the story, we will not accept the nomination. We will also not accept fic that is wildly out of character to the point where even proponents of that 'ship don't agree with it.
  11. We DO accept works in progress, but be aware that any story that wins an award this year is not eligible to be nominated again next year, so consider whether or not you want to be able to nominate the finished story before you nominate the work in progress.
  12. You MAY nominate your own fic provided you abide by the rest of the rules stated above, AND are up-front about it. Any fic discovered to have been nominated by the author using a lesser-known handle or e-mail address and pretending to be someone else will be thrown out; in other words, if you're going to nominate yourself, at least be honest about it. ;-)
  13. The organizers reserve the right to disqualify nominations at our discretion by a majority vote of the organizers after public discussion.

Voting

  1. You may only vote ONCE in each subcategory. If we find anyone breaking this rule, all their votes will be disqualified.
  2. You may vote for your own work, as long as you abide by rule #1.
  3. You may not tell other people how to vote. If you want to let them know that you're nominated, that's fine, but that's it. If they really love your work, they won't need to be prompted.

Think you can handle that? Good. :-) Then start nominating!
