The Isis Awards

Hey, welcome to the Isis Awards, home of the awards for those rarer het pairings in Stargate fandom!

We all know the frustration of shipping something that isn't bigger than Ben/Hur and the problems involved in not being able to find a pairing that really hits your buttons but not a lot of other people get.

Where do you go to find fic? How do you know it's any good? Is there recognition for people who don't write the popular stuff? The Stargate Fan Awards are great for a big overview of fandom. But what about the niche pairings? Don't they deserve recognition, too?

That's why the Isis Awards were created.

The Isis Awards are about het pairings that don't have as much fanwork out there, that get lost in the sea of 'popular' pairings. It has nothing to do with canon, or being right, or looking down upon certain pairings - it's entirely to do with the volume of work that's available in fandom for fans of less-popular pairings.

Carrying over from last year, the organisers have decided that the two pairings which are barred from the Isis Awards are Jack O'Neill/Sam Carter of Stargate SG1, and John Sheppard/Elizabeth Weir of Stargate Atlantis. This is wholly to do with the volume of work available for these two pairings at the major fandom archives.

This year, the Isis Awards are looking at new organisers and a new team running the awards, so we'll ask you to bear with us and our foibles and technical glitches. The previous organisers had this down to a fine art, but we're mere novices, so we request your patience while we sort things out.

In the meantime, start searching out your favourite 'rare pairing' fics and stay tuned for the announcement of the nominations!
